As I look back, this race has had everything.Command Point has been fogged-out, been a very fast gear buster, sailed in glorious sunshine in moderate air, rain so hard it hurt and called short at Command Point. But never a drifter until 2014.The race started after a twenty minute postponement in breeze and four boats jumped the gun just to make it exciting. The wind was short lived and went away just as fast as it came in and then settled down to 1 to 2 knots, but the flood in Dalco Passage pushed the fleet to Colvos. Now Colvos "always" runs North bound except if you get to close on Point Defiance with a flood, and without wind power to pull you westerly to find the North bound river...well, bring your golf clubs you are heading to Chambers Bay. We had a few that forgot their clubs and turn the engine on instead.

"Anybody can sail in wind, but it takes a real sailor to sail in nothing." And sail they did. The VMG speeds elude to the frustration factor and after 6.6 NM the race was called at the first mark on the course at point Richmond. Jeopardy took line honors, Special Purpose crossed 29 minutes later to take second in PHRF Light. Third to finish Silver Breeze corrected to second in fleet and won PHRF Heavy. Next to cross was Blue Jay winning the Windseeker division. Obsession was next to finish followed by Dulcinea.

Next race in this series is Point Defiance October 18th, The final race Browns Point November 1st. 0955 first warning for both races. Each race stands alone on it's own Merit, come join the fun.

Next weekend October 11th is the Sailors Memorial Singlehand. Skippers meeting 1000 at Tyee II CYCT clubhouse. 1115 scheduled first warning.
